13th August 2010… Being Born Again!

The creator of the whole universe is our Father God. We are his children, and Jesus is his son.

All the promises of heaven belong to those who have been born again!  They belong to us because they belong to God and because when you have been born again in Gods spirit and accepted him as the truth and the way to Heaven this is his promise in return.
Just think – the sun, the moon, the earth and stars, are ours, everything we ever needed or wanted will be ours when Jesus returns at the end this system of things.
What a promise!
And this was God’s plan from the very beginning of time, at the time he created the world.
Before he even made the world, God planned to bring us into his family, to be together with his son Jesus in a paradise. Like being on holiday permanently.

But there was a problem.
How could we ever be with such a good and perfect God, when we know all the bad things we have done?  Worse than that, God can’t let bad things go unpunished. That wouldn’t be right or fair, and God is perfect in all things.
But God loves us so much, that he planned from the beginning to send his son Jesus to take the punishment he knew one day we would all deserve for the sins we have done.
And so, when the right time came, God took our sins from us, and put them all on his son Jesus.  He accepted Jesus in our place on the cross to pay the price for all the wrong we have ever done, or ever will do, no matter how bad. Jesus paid for our sins.
All our sins have been paid for by the highest price in all the universe, his sons life. They have been paid for by the blood of Jesus. Our debt has been settled, now and forever. There is nothing more we could ever do. It is done. We have been set free by being born again.
In God’s eyes now, we are as fresh and clean and pure as if we never sinned at all.
When God sees his people, he sees Jesus. He doesn’t see all the mistakes we have made, or all the times we have messed up or disappointed him. All of that has been completely washed away and by accepting Jesus while being born again you accept a new path in life. A life following Jesus and his rules.
When God sees us, he sees the pure and perfect light of his son.
Now, because of God’s great love for us, we are part of his family forever and will find ourselves in Heaven with Jesus when the time comes. “What a promise” it gives us all promise and a bright future to look forward too.

11th August 2010… Who is God?

Lots of people say they believe in God, but they don’t really know who he is.
Suppose one day a little girl named  Jane  walked past the place where you live.
“Someone must live there,” she thinks to herself.
And she would be right – YOU live there! But then suppose she thought you had long, pointy ears, and yellow teeth, and furry feet; and that you hated dogs; and all you did was sit around all day eating ice cream and playing computer games.
That wouldn’t be you at all!
….except maybe for the computer games.
That is sort of God’s problem.
People see the moon and the stars and they think, “Someone must live there!” And they would be right. God does.
But then they get all kinds of different ideas about who God is.
And most of those ideas aren’t really who God is at all.
Jane  and her friends might sit around at lunch and talk about the person who lives in the place where you live, and in one way they all are right. Someone DOES live there. But if Jane thinks you have furry feet, and one of her friends thinks you are just a girl who likes to rise your bike, they aren’t really talking about the same person at all.
That’s how it is for God.
People say they believe in God. But what if one person thinks that God is the all-loving, all-powerful person who created everything there is. Then another person thinks that God is an old man with a white beard sitting up in a cloud somewhere. And then another person thinks that God is the statue of a cat he has sitting on his dresser. They aren’t really talking about the same person at all.
God had to find a way to let us know who he really is.
That’s why God chose Abraham.
God TOLD Abraham who he was.
Abraham and his family became God’s “Chosen People.”
It’s not that they were better than anyone else. No, God chose them not because they were so great, but because God is so great.
God chose Abraham and his family to show us who he really is.
When God blessed them with good things, we see that God is good.
When God punished them, we learn what God thinks is right and what he thinks is wrong.
When we hear the stories of the things God has done, that’s how we know that God is real. That’s how we know who God is.
But even more important than that, through all the stories of Abraham and his family we come to know Jesus.
We come to know that Jesus really IS God’s son, and that he came to earth to make a way for us to live with God forever by sacrificing his life so that we can have our sins forgiven. And that’s what everything in heaven and earth is all about. The Bible tells us everything we need to know about God, Jesus and Heaven and Earth.
It’s all about just how much God loves us and what will happen in the future when Jesus comes again.

10th August 2010…  Matthew ch24 v3-8 (signs of the end of our system).

As Jesus was sitting on the mount of olives, the disciples came to him privately and asked, Tell us?  “When will this happen, and what will be the signs of your second coming and the end of the age?

Jesus answered.

Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, proclaiming “I am the Messiah” and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.  Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places All these things are the beginning of the birth pains.
